We are very excited to announce that spots for our Winter homebrewing classes as part of Hudson County Community College’s Culinary Community Education Courses are now on sale. These classes build off the very successful beer and cider-making classes we hosted in the backyard of The Thirsty Quaker, and take the learning experience to the next level. The HCCC’s Culinary Community Education Courses are a great place to learn about the history and process of beer-making, and the facilities provide us a better environment to show you everything you need to know to make your own beer at home.
In this class you will:
- See a hands-on demonstration of extract and partial-mash beer-making from start to finish
- Smell the hops and taste the malted grain
- Learn about the history and science of beer
- Taste commercial and homebrewed beer samples
- Pair your beer with fresh, special-made pretzels
- Mash your own grains to turn starches into sugar
- Learn to fill and cap your own bottles
Homebrewing classes make great dates, and great gifts! To sign up, visit HCCC’s class sign-up system and search for “Brew” to see the available classes. Or, visit us in-store and fill out the form on the spot.
