For all you homebrewers out there wanting to show off your beer, come out and show us your talent! The 8th Annual Chili Cook Off and Homebrew Contest is on March 11th from 2-6pm at Our Lady of Grace (411 Willow Street, Hoboken NJ). Entry to the competition is free. The registration deadline is January 31, 2017. Contestants may enter multiple homebrews. Brewers must be present to pour beer the day of the event. Event set-up begins at 1pm. Beer tasting begins at 2pm.
Contestants that want to compete in the Judge’s Competition, must drop off samples of his/her beer 2 weeks prior to the competition at Finnegan’s Pub in Hoboken or The Thirsty Quaker in Jersey City. Judging will be done the Saturday before the event. To be considered for the Judge’s contest, participants must drop off two bottles beer no later than March 5th, 2017. Entries should have contact information and beer information taped, tagged, or rubber banded to the bottles.
The Chili & Homebrew contest is FREE to enter. The competitions are judged separately; each category a separate judges panel. The categories this year are:
- Judges’ Choice
- Fan Favorite
- Brewer’s Choice
The judges panel will award 1st and 2nd place prizes to the top chili & beer entries. The Brewer’s Choice Award Winner have their beer brewed and on tap at Departed Soles for a month! Each winner takes home a trophy. Judges’ Choice & Fan Favorite Award Winners will receive gift certificates from local Hoboken businesses, and of course the glory of winning the 2017 Battle in the Boken.
Last year the contest had over $4K in prizes and raised $10,000 for the children of Hoboken! Mentors Matter. Support a great cause and make this year our best fundraiser yet!
